Fun with Fondant

(Lots of posts from the past week! I've been slacking!)

This past Saturday some of us girls had a little fun with cake decorating. We had Ernie from Just Cakes come and teach us how to work with fondant.
He brought us each a little cake, a hunk of white fondant to cover the cake, then some extras to decorate.
He taught us about making fondant, working with it, storing it, etc. Then gave us some pointers on how to work with it. We each had a lot of fun and learned a thing or two about the basics of working with cakes and fondant.
To see his work you to his blog: Just Cakes
He posted a little note about our party too!

We all started with a mini 2 layer Almond cake covered in buttercream. Then a hunk of white mashmallow fondant.

Then we all rolled out the fondant, covered then smoothed it around the top and edges.

There was colored fondant to roll out and cut into shapes for decoration.

Ava and Madelyn got their toenails painted while we were busy working!

I got a shot of all the cakes except Celine's....sorry! Not sure how I missed that one.......

Now we have the beginning skills to do small projects! Thanks for a fun afternoon!
